    La Valeur Strategy Guide

    ~ Introduction

    Welcome to my La Valeur strategy guide. If you aren't familiar with the game and you'd like to find out more about it, check out my review of it right here.

    ~ Main Menu

    Press button I to bring up the main menu. It's set up like this:

    A - D
    B - E
    C -

    Use A to talk to people.

    Use B to search or open treasure chests.

    Use C to see your current status (equipment, stats, etc.).

    Use D to bring up a list of spells that you can use.

    Use E to bring up three new options. The first option allows you to use tools that restore hit points or magic points. You can have up to 99 of each tool. The second option brings up two more options: equip and drop. The third option allows you to use items. You can use these items as many times as you want to as long as they're in your possession.

    ~ Battle Menu

    The battle menu is set up like this:

    A - D
    B - E
    C - F

    A, B, and C are attack techniques (slice, pierce, and bludgeon, respectively). Basically, you should use slice if you want to attack with a sword-type weapon, pierce for a spear-type weapon, and bludgeon for a club-type weapon.

    D is for using spells.

    E is run.

    F brings up two new options: equip and item. Whenever you want to use a different weapon, you MUST equip it first. For instance, selecting bludgeon will not automatically allow you to attack with your club-type weapon. You must equip the weapon first and then select the appropriate attack technique. As for item, there are only a few items that you can use in combat. You CANNOT use the standard tools that allow you to restore hit points and magic points.

    ~ General Game Tips

    Each enemy is vulnerable to a certain weapon type. Noted in this guide are the weapon types I used to defeat every kind of monster I encountered.

    Do not forget to equip the weapon you want to use before attacking an enemy. This is extremely important.

    Damage that you deal with each attack is distributed among all the enemies you're facing. So if you're opposed by three monsters that each have 30 HP and you do an attack that causes 90 damage, all three monsters will be killed.

    Enemies in each area will stop giving you experience points once you reach a certain level. The caps are all noted in this guide.

    Make sure you've reached an area's respective cap and have the best equipment available before taking on the boss of the area.

    To acquire magic spells, you must speak with the local wizard in each town. The wizard will give you a key that unlocks certain chests outside of town. Bring the items in these chests to the wizard and he will allow you to choose one of four spells. (Note: There are six types of each item. The combination that you bring will determine which spells the wizard will let you choose from. If you bring all six, you can choose from all four spells. I always collected all six before seeing the wizard so that I could have the entire selection at my disposal. Plus, finding the items gives you something to do while leveling up.) You can return to a wizard later, get his key again, and hunt down the items again if you decide you want a different spell.

    The pharmacies in every town contain the same four tools. The first two are for restoring HP, while the next two are for restoring MP. You should carry around as many of the cheap HP restorers as you possibly can, especially early in the adventure. The enemies in this game are brutal, and you should plan on healing after every fight or so.

    You can have your HP restored (for a price) and save (for free) at the inns. However, inns do not restore MP.

    ~ Walkthrough

    * First Town - Flodi

    You start out in some old guy's house. Answer yes when the old man asks you a question. You'll receive the Short Sword and a healing tool.

    Equipment shop - Short Sword (already have), Spear (100), Club (50), Leather Shield (40), Linen Armor (50)

    Pharmacy - 10@20, 3@500, 10@250, 10@600

    The wizard lives in a house in the northwest area of town. Talk to him to receive a key. You'll have to find rings in the chests just outside town to acquire magic from this wizard.

    When you're done looking around and talking to people, head north and leave the town.

    * Forest

    ~ ENEMIES ~
    Slime (sword) / Troll (sword)

    Kobold (club) / Maw Beast (club)

    You will no longer get experience points for killing these enemies once you reach level 3.

    Hang around the area just outside of town for a while to level up and acquire some cash. Return to the inn frequently to heal and save. You should pick on the slimes at first. Earn enough money to buy the stuff at the equipment shop.

    Head NW to a bridge. Cross the bridge and head to the SE corner of the new area. You'll find a chest (use the key from the wizard to open it) containing Ring #1. There's another chest to the W containing another Ring #1. (Note: You can hold only one of each Ring type at any given time.) In the SW corner, you'll find Ring #2. The chest in the center contains another Ring #2. NW of that is a chest containing Ring #3. Talk to the tree man E of that. There's another tree man to the NE of the entrance to town that you can talk to.

    Go all the way W in the area across the bridge and then head N to a new area. Don't approach this weird-looking "stump" yet.

    That's where you'll fight the first boss.

    Open the chest in the NW part of this new area to acquire the Little Shield (drop the first shield and you can acquire this one). Talk to the tree man in the NW part of the area. There are two chests to the E: the one on the left contains Ring #4, while the one on the right holds Ring #5.

    Go across the bridge to the E. Don't go into the cave to the N. The chest to the NE has another Ring #1. The chest S of that has Ring #6. You should have all six rings now (though you don't have any MP yet).

    When you reach the level cap and have all the best equipment available, head to that "stump" to fight the first boss. Make sure to enter the battle with full HP.

    ~ BOSS - KYANSABATTSU ~

    Use the Spear on him. Don't forget to equip it before trying to use it. After the fight, you'll receive an MP-restoring crystal. Search the "stump" to acquire a nut of some sort.

    Go to the tree guy to the E, NE of the town entrance. Give him the nut, and he'll give you a lantern.

    Now head to the cave to the N.

    * The "It's a Boat!" Cave

    ~ ENEMIES ~

    Maamerai (sword) / Geriarus (spear)

    Kerorugu (club)

    You will no longer get experience points for killing these enemies once you reach level 4.

    Again, it's a good idea to hang out by the entrance and level up. Perhaps even more important is that you save up enough money to buy lots of those cheap healing tools. You'll need them here.

    Just to the W of the starting point is a chest. However, this is a trap chest; if you search it, your HP will be brought down to 1.

    Go to the NW corner and then head all the way S. Follow the path to an obstacle that you cannot pass. You'll see two beasts running around. Talk to the beast closer to you when he runs up against the obstacle. Say yes.

    Head all the way to the SE corner. Turn off your lantern. You'll see a shining area in the darkness. Search the shining area to find a new item.

    Show this new item to the creature in the SW corner (select it when he's closest to you, right up against the obstacle). He'll say something new.

    From the entrance to the cave, head E to a wall, then S. At the split, take the path leading S and then immediately head NE. Have your character touching both the water and the S wall. Search. It's a... boat!

    WHAT A MIRACLE!

    Don't use your new canoe just yet. Take the path just E of the cave's entrance (it heads S). Head all the way S, and then use your canoe by the water. Head S in the water to a new area.

    Head W, then S. Open the chest. This is an auto-heal chest. You can return to auto-heal chests and heal yourself as many times as you want to.

    Go a little N and get off the boat. Head N to a chest containing 50 gold.

    Go back down the path you came from (still on land) and head SW. Follow the LONG path and then get into the water again with your canoe. Head S to a new area.

    Go S and then E, and get off the boat. Take the E path. It curves and heads W. When you reach two paths, take the top one. You'll reach two more paths; take the bottom one this time. Two paths again (N and W). Take the N one. This will lead to the boss. Talk to the girl and then the fight will begin.

    ~ BOSS - MECHIIJU ~

    For this fight, I alternated attacks with my sword and club. You'll get an MP-restoring crystal after the fight, and then you'll get to watch a cinema. Meet Sophie.

    The old guy gives you the Ring Mail during the cinema. You now have 100 MP.

    You'll end up in a new town.

    * Second Town - Luca

    Equipment shop - Long Sword (260), Trident (210), Flail (140), Round Shield (200), Chain Mail (400)

    Pharmacy - 10@30, 3@500, 10@200, 10@600

    The house to the SW is the wizard's house. You don't need to see him yet.

    Talk to everyone, buy new stuff, and leave to the N.

    * Gray Area

    ~ ENEMIES ~
    Lizard (spear) / Orc (spear)

    Troll King (spear) / Treant (sword)

    You will no longer get experience points for killing these enemies once you reach level 6.

    Head all the way E to get back to the first town. Now is a good time to visit the first town's wizard and pick up a new spell. If you collected all of the ring types, he'll offer you a choice of four spells. Take the bottom-right one, which restores 200 HP.

    When you exit the first town via the path that you just used to enter it, head N to find a chest containing 100 gold.

    You can now see the wizard in the second town and obtain a new key. This guy will want potions instead of rings. Get the key, and then leave the town again.

    From your starting point in the gray area, head E and then work your way NW to an auto-heal chest. NW of the starting point is a guy you can talk to. W is a chest containing Potion #1. NW of the auto-heal chest is Potion #2. E of that is another Potion #1. East of that is yet another Potion #1.

    Head W to find a path to a new area. In the new area, to the NE you can find a chest containing another Potion #2. W of this chest is another guy you can talk to. NE of the guy is another path back to the first area.

    W of the original path from the first area is a chest containing Potion #3. Way to the SW is a chest with Potion #4. NW of that, you can find Potion #5. N of that chest is a path W to another area (don't take this path yet). E of that path is another guy you can talk to. S of that guy is a chest with Potion #6. You should have all six now.

    A little NE of that chest is another trap chest. E of that is a path leading to the N. Take this path.

    In the new area, use the teleporter to the N. After that, just keep following the path and using the teleporters (this isn't even a maze, really). Eventually, you'll reach a flower.

    Search it, take the plant, and head back to the second town.

    Since you have all six potions, you can get a new spell by visiting the wizard. Take the upper-left one, Stain.

    Go to the first house you were in when you initially showed up in this town. Show the plant you just obtained to the guy in the NW corner of the house. He'll give you a new key.

    Now head to the path that was all the way to the W and prepare to fight another boss.

    ~ BOSS - ROGUE ~

    I used my club weapon twice and then my sword weapon for the rest of the fight. You'll get an MP-restoring crystal after beating him. Continue on toward the W and a new area.

    * Fortress

    ~ ENEMIES ~
    Driganus (spear) / Girubaiyaa (club)

    Izugiraa (club)

    These enemies drop MP-restoring ore. You will no longer get experience points for killing these enemies once you reach level 7.

    Use the green key to open the door to the fortress.

    Talk to the guy just NW of the entrance.

    To the N of that guy, you'll see a chest. This is a trap chest.

    Head to the NE area of the floor to find a stairway. Take it, and then talk to the guy to your N. There's another guy in the SW corner; get the purple key from him. A stairway can be found in the middle of the S-most area of this floor.

    Take the stairway and talk to the guy to your NE. Way up in the NE is a chest containing 200 gold. Up in the NW is an auto-heal chest.

    The door in the N area of the floor can be opened with the purple key. You'll have to fight a boss past that door.

    ~ BOSS - HERENGASHIM ~

    Use your spear weapon the whole time. You'll get an MP-restoring crystal and watch a cinema.

    You now have 200 MP.

    Take the stairs the boss was blocking, follow the path, and talk to the guy before exiting. Exit and you'll find yourself in a new area (the third town, to be precise).

    * Third Town - Rupian

    Equipment shop - Broad Sword (520), Lance (440), Axe (310), Large Shield (350), Lamellar (600)

    Pharmacy - 10@150, 5@300, 10@200, 10@800

    Get a new key from this town's wizard, who wants you to find urns.

    Head N of the inn to leave the town.

    * Weird-symbol Woods

    ~ ENEMIES ~
    Frog Man (spear) / Lizard Man (spear)

    Two-headed Wolf (sword) / Skeleton (club)

    You will no longer get experience points for killing these enemies once you reach level 9.

    Head E and talk to the two tree guys.

    Head W past the town entrance and take the bottom path to find a chest with Urn #1. Take the top path and you'll see a weird symbol on the ground. Stand on the symbol and use the plant to reveal a new path.

    (The town entrance will now be blocked. Use the plant on the new weird symbol located near the entrance to put things back the way they were.)

    Head W; around the bend is a chest with Urn #2. N of that chest is another tree guy to talk to. The NW corner of this particular area is where you can find a chest holding Urn #3. NE of the tree guy is another Urn #2. W of that chest is another chest, but this is a trap chest. Towards the SE is an auto-heal chest.

    Keep going E. Talk to the tree guy. S of the tree guy is another Urn #1. All the way E is an Urn #2.

    The NW-most path leads to a chest with 300 gold. Take the next path E and talk to the tree guy to the N.

    There's another tree guy to the N (walking around by another weird symbol). Talk to the tree guy. Stand on the weird symbol and use the gold ball item to reveal three secret spots.

    E of the weird symbol area is a chest containing Urn #3. E of that chest is a chest containing Urn #4. S of that, you'll find another weird symbol. Stand on it and use the gold ball, and you'll see a secret sphinx symbol on an island that you can't reach yet.

    Go back to where the three secret spots were. You need to step on the spots in this order: Gold, Blue, Red. You'll hear a sound each time you step on a spot.

    Watch the cinema.

    You've been warped to a place where you can talk to a tree guy and acquire a canoe. Use the canoe by the water and head to the NE, where you can get a blue key from another tree guy. (IMPORTANT: Don't forget about this particular tree guy! He's blocking a path that you'll eventually need to take.)

    SW of that is an island with a chest and an entrance to a cave. Don't head to the cave yet. Inside the chest is Urn #5.

    Head to the SW, just S of the tree guy who was by the canoe, and you'll arrive at another small island. The chest here holds Urn #6. (This is also where the sphinx symbol was. You can't do anything with it right now.)

    You can head back to the third town to acquire a new magic spell. Take the upper-left one. It lets you warp back to towns you've already visited.

    Head to the island where you saw the cave entrace. Prepare to fight a boss.

    ~ BOSS - SHINKOU ~

    Use your spear weapon. Simple. Afterwards, you'll get an MP-restoring crystal. Use the blue key to enter the cave.

    *Pits and Stones Cave

    ~ ENEMIES ~
    Fraishiiz (sword) / Smeem (spear)

    Teibon (club)

    These enemies drop MP-restoring ore. You will no longer get experience points for killing these enemies once you reach level 10.

    Use the lantern to light up the cave.

    First, go all the way to the middle-N and find a chest containing 400 gold. SW of that is an auto-heal chest.

    All the way in the SW corner is a "pit" that lets you get to a new area. If you want to return to the first area, touch the stone near the point where you first appear after "using" the pit.

    In the new area, touch the stone in the SE corner to warp to yet another new area.

    Almost directly N is another "pit."

    It takes you to a place in the NW corner of the previous area. After you use it, head slightly to the SW to another "warp stone."

    Go around the bend and head N to a new area. Go all the way E. Go N until you can go W. Go W, then take the first path to the N. To the W is the next pit.

    Now you're in the NE of a big area. Head towards the SW and find another warp stone.

    In the new place, go all the way to the SE corner, then N. You'll find a chest, but it's a trap chest.

    Head N of where the trap was and through the hole in the wall. You'll have to face a boss.

    ~ BOSS - MAUNGUBAYAN ~

    This guy seems to steal MP when he hits you. Just slash him with your sword weapon over and over. You'll get an MP-restoring crystal when you beat him. You'll also get the blue sphinx special item.

    Leave the cave and head to the island with the blue sphinx spot. Here's a reminder of where the spot is:

    Use your new special item on that spot.

    You'll wind up in a new area. Head to the right to find a cave, which leads to the fourth town.

    * Fourth Town - Rimoje

    Use the lantern to light up the town. Talk to the old lady and watch the cinema.

    The NW doorway leads to this town's wizard. This guy will give you a new key, which you can use to open the "igloos" outside. This wizard wants books.

    Go through the doorway E of the wizard's niche and talk to the girl. Say yes.

    All the way to the NE is the inn. There are no equipment shops or pharmacies in this town.

    Leave the town.

    * Snow Land

    ~ ENEMIES ~
    Wererat (spear) / Harpy (club)

    Mantrap (club)

    You will no longer get experience points for killing these enemies once you reach level 11.

    SE of the town entrance is an igloo with Book #1. SW of that is an auto-heal igloo. SW of that is an igloo with Book #2. A little NE of that is a weird symbol. Use the gold ball item while standing on it; you'll see a blue sphinx secret spot. If you head toward that sphinx spot, you'll have to fight a boss. Don't do that yet.

    NW of that is an animal running around. Talk to it. NE of that is an igloo containing Book #3.

    W of that is a weird symbol. Use the ball while standing on it to reveal another secret sphinx spot. You can't do anything with that spot right now, though.

    SW of that is Book #4. Head SE to find Book #5.

    All the way to the SE is a path to another area. Take it.

    To the W is a trap igloo. S of that (go around the trees) is an igloo with Book #6. SW of that is an igloo with Book #3. Just NW of that is another weird symbol; use the gold ball item on it to see another secret sphinx spot. If you use the blue sphinx item while standing on the secret spot, you'll be warped to the island that had the very first sphinx symbol you discovered.

    W of the symbol is an igloo with 600 gold. Go all the way N and a little W for an igloo with Book #4. Talk to the animal running around SW of that. The igloo in the SW corner holds Book #5. N of that is another igloo with Book #5.

    Go N to head back to the first area, and return to the cave town so you can pick up a new magic spell. Take the bottom-left one, which is a powerful lightning battle spell.

    Now let's face the boss.

    ~ BOSS - NOPOOBU ~

    This guy is actually pretty tough. First, I used Stain. Then I used the lightning spell to cause massive damage. Finally, I stabbed him with my spear weapon until he died. You'll get an MP-restoring crystal for beating him.

    Use the sphinx item on the sphinx spot he was guarding and you'll warp to a new area.

    * Sphinx Area

    ~ ENEMIES ~
    Ashurin (club) / Marshroid (club)

    Sekkeikou (club)

    These enemies drop MP-restoring ore. You will no longer get experience points for killing these enemies once you reach level 12.

    Talk to the animal nearby. Use the gold ball on the weird symbol to show a secret sphinx symbol. This sphinx symbol takes you back to the snow area.

    To the E, around the trees, is a trap chest. Go all the way N, then head W to find a chest with 800 gold. W of that is an animal. Talk to it. It raises your max MP to 500. SE of that is a chest with five "super-heal" bottles.

    Go back to where you first appeared in this area, and then head S to a new area.

    To the E is a chest with a new weapon, the Halberd.

    As you make your way W, you'll basically see three different things:

    1) Animals. Talk to them.
    2) Levers. They're useless right now.
    3) Sphinx-like structures that you can't get into.

    Directly N of the second sphinx is a path to a new part of the first area. You can find an auto-heal chest in this new place. Take the SW path back down to the sphinx area.

    When you reach the third sphinx structure, walk along the sphinx's right side (towards the N) until you find a lever. Search this lever. Then search the lever just to the SE of this particular sphinx. You can enter this particular structure now. Inside, you'll have to fight a boss.

    ~ BOSS - GINARSH ~

    DON'T use magic on this guy! Just keep stabbing him with your spear weapon (which should be the Halberd) over and over. You'll get an MP-restoring crystal when he's dead.

    * Back to the Weird-symbol Woods

    Go back to the area where you obtained your second canoe (where the very first sphinx symbol was). Use your canoe and head all the way NE where there used to be a tree guy blocking a path (I told you not to forget about him!). He isn't there anymore. Take the path E to a new area.

    * Dead Forest

    ~ ENEMIES ~
    Goblin (spear) / Ghoul (spear)

    Wolfhead (spear)

    You will no longer get experience points for killing these enemies once you reach level 14.

    Immediately head to the N, where you will find three chests. Search all three.

    E of the three chests is a path to another area. Just SE of that path is a chest with 800 gold. NE of that chest is another path to the upper area. Towards the SE of this lower area is a big dead tree. You can search it if you want to, but you can't do anything with it yet.

    Take the W-most path to the upper area. You'll see a weird blue guy to the NE.

    SE of that guy is a statue near a weird symbol, but the passage through the trees is too small for you to get through. You can search the passage, which is a little NE of the statue. E of that is a bridge; NE of that is a trap chest. Cross the bridge and to your N is an auto-heal chest. Head back and talk to the weird blue guy. You'll need to go back to the first area and search those three chests in the NW corner again. Then return to the blue guy.

    The weird blue guy should now ask you a question when you talk to him. The choices are presented like this:

    A - D
    B - E
    C - F

    Pick E. The guy disappears and the trees turn green again.

    Go back to that big dead tree in the lower area. You can now pick HP-restoring fruit from it.

    Take the path that the weird blue guy was blocking. Cross the bridge to the E. Follow this path to a cave entrance. A boss will challenge you.

    ~ BOSS - SHADOHOU ~

    I occasionally missed him, but I just kept stabbing away with my spear weapon. You'll get the usual MP-restoring crystal for beating him.

    Head N into the cave.

    * The Cave of the Poor Man's Dalles

    ~ ENEMIES ~
    Bouraijaku (sword, then the Star when you have it)

    You will no longer get experience points for killing these enemies once you reach level 15.

    Use the lantern to light up the cave.

    You don't have to worry about most of the chests in here right now because you can't open them yet. W of the entrance is a green guy; talk to him. S of the green guy is a chest containing the Star weapon.

    In the SE corner is a path leading to a new area. Don't take it yet. W of that path is another path down. Don't take this one either. Just N of that path is an auto-heal chest. W of that chest and slightly S is a chest with 1000 gold. Continue W and there's another path down. Don't take it. N of the path is a chest you can't open. Slightly NW of the chest is another green guy. Talk to him.

    Way to the NW is a scary-looking guy who turns you into a monster.

    NOTE: I've played through the game multiple times, and my experiences as a monster were different during one particular playthrough. I encountered monsters in random battles each play, with each run providing options to leave those combat screens without fighting; but more significantly, I also ran into human enemies in random battles in all playthroughs but that single odd one, and these humans were more than happy to kill me.

    I ran into no human enemies during the odd run. I can't account for the difference, but at least you'll be prepared either way now.

    Leave the dungeon as a monster. Go to the place where you saw the statue you couldn't get to. Now you can pass through the small passage. Search the statue. Search the symbol near it. Use the gold ball on the symbol and you will see a secret blue sphinx spot. Use the blue sphinx on the secret spot and you'll warp to the snow land. You can talk to the animals running around here, but watch out for human enemies.

    Go to the sphinx area. You can talk to the animals here as well. Hit the first lever just to your SE when you enter the area with the sphinx structures. Go to the first sphinx and hit the lever on its W side. The door to this sphinx will now be open. Go inside and open the chest to get the fang.

    Hit the lever E of the middle sphinx. Then hit the lever right near the middle sphinx to open the door. There are two chests inside this one. Search the chest on the left, and while standing right in front of it, use the fang to turn back into a human.

    Get the amulet from the chest on the right.

    If you go back to the scary-looking guy who turned you into a monster, you'll have to fight him. Let's not do that just yet, but do return to the cave he's in.

    Take the SE-most path to a new area. In the new area, there's a trap chest just to your W. Head to the SE of this area to find another path down, which leads to the fifth town.

    * Fifth Town - Ryuube

    Note: You cannot warp back to this town.

    Equipment shop - Twin Sword (2000), Halberd (already have), Battle Axe (1800, weaker than Star), Tower Shield (3200), Brigandine (3200)

    Pharmacy - 10@150, 3@500, 10@200, 10@700

    Pass through the entryway towards the SW and you'll meet the wizard of this town. He'll give you a key that can open many of the chests in the cave. This wizard wants scrolls.

    Talk, buy stuff, etc., and then leave the town.

    Just NW of the town entrance is Scroll #1. Head towards the middle-N to meet another green guy (talk to him) and find a chest with Scroll #2. S of the green guy is Scroll #3. S of that is Scroll #4. Head to the NW corner of the area and a little E and you will find Scroll #5.

    Go back to the first area of the cave. S of the main entrance to the cave is Scroll #6. W past the first green guy is another Scroll #5. Just E of the boss is another Scroll #6. To the S is yet another Scroll #6.

    Now head back to town to get a new spell. Take the upper-left one, which is a major healing spell.

    Now let's fight the boss.

    ~ BOSS - SPIDARAS ~

    I used my club weapon for the entire fight and healed with the new healing spell when necessary. You get the usual MP-restoring crystal when you win.

    Then you arrive at a huge castle.

    * Castle

    ~ ENEMIES ~
    Hell Ghost (club) / Imaal (spear)

    Yabareiyan (spear)

    These enemies drop MP-restoring ore. You will no longer get experience points for killing these enemies once you reach level 17.

    Head W and go up the stairs. Go in the door on the W side. Inside, there's a door to the W, but you can't open it yet. There's an auto-heal chest in the middle of this area (inside the castle). There's also a chest towards the upper-right of this area that contains ten "super-heal" bottles. That stuff is a little out of our way, but you can go after it if you want.

    To get on with business quickly, go up the stairs next to the door you just used, and use the door on the next floor. Go up the stairs next to this door, and go inside the next door. Use the stairs all the way to the W on the platform you're on. Use the W doorway. Go up the staircase next to the doorway, and use the doorway just to the W. Go up the huge staircase. Go up the next staircase and you'll be in the second area of the castle.

    Go up the staircase just to the W, and then step through the doorway just to the E. Go up the staircase to the W. Head through the doorway. The chest to the W is a trap chest, so just use the doorway to the E to get back outside. Head up the next couple stairways until you find a doorway leading back into the castle. Step through the doorway, go up the staircase, and use the next doorway to get back outside. Head up the staircase and go back inside.

    Talk to the swan and get the red key. Go down to the door just below and cross over to the top-right part of the structure. Go in the door. The chest below holds 1000 gold. Use the key you got from the swan to open the door at the very top-right. Inside is the boss.

    ~ BOSS - SHINDALARUUDA ~

    Keep using the Twin Sword, and use your powerful healing spell when necessary. You'll get the usual MP-restoring crystal for beating him.

    Go back to the swan. Talk to it, and then watch the cinema.

    You'll receive a new key. Now you can get into the door way down in the bottom-left area of the castle. Go there.

    * Barren Land

    ~ ENEMIES ~
    Lizard King (spear) / Sefropotto (club)

    Hobgoblin (spear)

    These enemies drop MP-restoring ore. You will no longer get experience points for killing these enemies once you reach level 18.

    You'll see a guy walking around to the SE. Talk to him. There's a chest NE of the guy, and it contains 1500 gold.

    Work your way around to the E to reach a town.

    * Sixth Town - Sheble

    Pharmacy - 10@100, 3@500, 10@200, 10@700

    There's a weird symbol in the SE corner of town. Stand on it and use the plant item. A bridge to another area will be created.

    The bridge leads to a chest that contains the Muramasa.

    Walk around, talk, shop, and leave.

    Outside of town, there are paths to the N that lead to another area. The first chest you see in the new area is a trap chest. Talk to the guy N of the chest.

    You can find an auto-heal chest in the NW corner. Head all the way N, then head E, and you'll find another guy to talk to.

    Head to the SE-most part and then head N to fight a boss.

    ~ BOSS - DYREMAN ~

    I used two lightning spells and two Muramasa slashes to defeat him. Get the usual MP-restoring crystal when you win.

    Head to the N to find a doorway leading into a cave.

    * Mining Cave

    ~ ENEMIES ~
    Vampire (spear) / Druid (sword)

    Imp (sword)

    These enemies drop MP-restoring ore. You will no longer get experience points for killing these enemies once you reach level 19.

    Use the lantern to illuminate the cave.

    Head all the way S, then head E and talk to the guy. Head a little E, then head N and talk to another guy. You'll see a chest E from that guy, but you can't get to it yet.

    The S has a path to another area. In the new area, head NE for an auto-heal chest. Head all the way to the NE and you'll see a path N to a new part of the last area. Take it.

    If you head NW, you can reach the chest you couldn't get to before. But it's a trap chest.

    Head NE and talk to the guy walking around. To the NW is a locked door. N of the guy, there's another guy and a doorway. A boss will attack you as you approach.

    ~ BOSS - TANGURUUJI ~

    Keep slashing him with your Muramasa. Use the major healing spell when necessary (probably twice). Get the usual MP-restoring crystal when you win.

    Talk to the guy by the doorway and watch the cinema.

    You'll receive a new item that you can use to restore your MP whenever you want to (but only once per battle). Great! You won't have it for long, though.

    Go through the doorway and you'll end up in a town.

    * Seventh Town - Rim

    Pharmacy - 10@100, 3@500, 10@200, 10@700

    You can't get into the NW-most house yet.

    There's a castle in the NE part of town. Head there.

    * Town Castle

    Go inside. There's an auto-heal chest just NW of the entrance.

    Towards the SE part of this floor, there's a staircase. Take it. There will be a trap chest just to the W.

    Work your way to the SE part of the floor. There's another staircase. Take it.

    On this floor, there's a chest in the SW corner that holds ten super-heal bottles. Work your way to the NE for another staircase. Take it.

    NW on this new floor is a locked door. Towards the SE is another staircase. Take it. Head towards the middle-top of the new floor to find more stairs. Take them.

    Now you'll be in a throne room. Talk to the girl on the throne. Watch the cinema.

    You'll receive a new key that you can use to unlock that locked door inside the castle. You will no longer have that awesome MP-restoring item that you were able to use whenever you wanted.

    Go through that castle door with your new key.

    Talk to the old guy sitting on the throne.

    Pick the second option and then the first.

    Two of your magic spells have been taken away. Accept it.

    The door to the right will be opened. Head through the doorway and into a new cave.

    * Castle Cave

    ~ ENEMIES ~
    Nyreleeg (sword) / Gyuutaator (spear)

    Low Bit (club)

    These enemies drop MP-restoring ore. You will no longer get experience points for killing these enemies once you reach level 20--the maximum level.

    NOTE: There are two things to keep in mind, at least if you want to complete this cave without going all the way back to the castle town. You can purchase two magic spells near the save spot, but don't. And do not kill the Low Bit enemies. Run from them. If you either purchase a spell or kill a Low Bit, you'll eventually have to return to the pharmacy in the castle town and pay a fee to "erase" what you did.

    What you may want to do is kill everything, including the Low Bits, until you've reached the maximum level. Then you can return to the pharmacy and "erase" your Low Bit murders. (At the pharmacy, choose the third option; it will cost you 500G).

    Use the lantern as usual.

    There's an auto-heal chest just SE of the entrance. There's a guy walking around to the S of the entrance. Talk to him. NE of the guy, you can use your boat by the water. Head S to a little island. Look closely at the terrain. You'll notice a strange symbol. Stand on the symbol and use your gold orb item. You'll see a pink secret spot flashing.

    Search the spot to find an item that lets you restore your HP whenever you want to (but you can use it only once per battle).

    SE of the guy is a path S to a new area. There are three doorways in this area. Head through the middle one to find a guy who lets you save. The other two have people willing to sell you one magic spell apiece. The spells are Stain and an escape one. Their initial asking price is 500. If you select the second option, their price will drop to 300. Again, you really don't want these spells.

    Head back to the first area. Go all the way E and then head N and you'll find a guy to talk to. N of the guy (up the middle path) is a trap chest. The other two paths lead N to a new area.

    Go up the NW path. Head NW in the new area to find the Partisan. Keep following the path and talk to the guy you meet. Head all the way to the SE and you'll see a path to a new area, but you'll have to fight a boss if you want to take it.

    ~ BOSS - NUEITAA ~

    Keep alternating the weapons you use to attack. I went Spear-Club-Sword-Spear-Club-Sword-etc., and healed with the major healing spell when necessary. Get the usual MP-restoring crystal after winning.

    Take the path S to a new area. In the new area, look VERY CLOSELY at the horizontal strip of land running along the S. You'll see a weird symbol. Stand on it and use the plant item. The dreaded Guransu will appear.

    Talk to Guransu and select the second option. If those two spell slots are still empty, and if you haven't killed any Low Bits, Guransu will transform into someone else, and you'll receive an item.

    Return to the castle and show the item to the king. You'll receive the large crystal that restores MP and the key to the door in the mine.

    In the castle town, head to the NW house that you couldn't get into before. Go inside and talk to the girl. You'll now have maximum MP.

    You can pay the guy in the house S of the castle 1000G for... something to happen. I'm not quite sure what this accomplishes, but you may as well do it just to be safe.

    Head to the mines and use your new key to open the door.

    * Mining Cave Castle

    ~ ENEMIES ~
    Gargoyle (club) / Gyazaa (club)

    Oguriento (club)

    These enemies drop MP-restoring ore.

    There are spots here that will automatically bring down your HP to one-third of what it was. Immediately heal with your pink item if you step into one of these spots.

    If you head W from the entrance, you'll eventually reach a trap chest. All the way in the upper-right corner of this area is another trap chest. W of that trap chest is yet another trap chest. So... let's avoid all of that stuff.

    Head up the staircase W of the entrance. Head W. Skip the next staircase. Take the staircase after that up (it's above the first trap chest I noted). You'll see a staircase heading up just to the E; take it. To the W is another staircase heading up; take it. Then take the staircase up just to the E. Head E and you'll see two staircases; take the one heading down. Head E and you'll see a staircase up. Take it, and the others right above it. You'll reach a new area.

    You don't need the chests in this new area. You'll immediately see a chest in the new area, but it's a trap chest. If you work your way towards the lower left, you'll find an auto-heal chest, which you don't really need since you have the pink healing item. There's another trap chest on the top floor towards the center.

    You can use the red doors to get in and out of the castle. From the starting point of the area, take the staircase to the W leading up. Then head E and take another staircase up. At the top of these stairs, you'll see a door just to the W; go inside it. Now take the two small staircases you see heading down. Head W and go inside the first door you come to. Take the staircase just to the E heading up. Go inside the door. Go E and take the staircase up. Go E and take another staircase up. Go W and inside the door. Go E and prepare to fight.

    ~ BOSS - MOGARUDE ~

    Keep using your spear on him. Remember that you have your pink healing item, your super-heal spell, and your MP-restoring crystal, so make use of all of them. After defeating him, you'll get the usual MP-restoring crystal. Head up the stairway to a new area.

    * Final Area

    ~ ENEMIES ~
    Killer Eye (club) / Shadow (club)

    Sandman (sword)

    These enemies drop MP-restoring ore.

    You can use the doorways to get to different areas of the castle. Go W from the starting point until the third doorway you see. Go inside it. Go W and up the staircase. Go a little E and head up another staircase. Go E and you'll be at an auto-heal chest. Go inside the doorway just to the W of it. Walk up the three staircases you see. Head W and go up another staircase. Head E to find another auto-heal chest. Step inside the doorway just to the W of this chest. Go down the stairway just to the E, then go up the stairway to the W. Head E and you'll see a chest, but it's a trap chest. Go through the doorway right next to the trap chest and you'll be on the top floor near a door at the top of a small stairway. Go through the door.

    It's time for the final battle.

    ~ LAST BOSS - ZANZERIAN ~

    You have to keep switching between your three weapons for this guy. Pay close attention and you'll notice that a new text message will appear every time you need to switch. Start with the sword. When the switch message pops up, start using the spear. When another switch happens, go with the club. Then back to the sword, and so on. If you die, you get to restart in his room, so don't despair.

    After you beat him, you'll wind up in the throne room where you can talk with some of your friends. Then it's time for the final cinema. Congratulations.
